originally formed in london
in the late '90s, alaskahighway is the main
realization of moose - adding to his
experiments in electronic music with the
influences of the early pioneering artists
from the synthetic world.
this project took on a
different shape after a move to los
angeles in early 2001 with the addition of
a neighbour, anthony, who is a native of
the west coast areas that have been a
heavy influence on his writing styles. a
strong collaborative work between the two
flourished in the summer of 2003 and have
intertwined both light and dark
electronica with the more classic style of
song composition.
everyone who has heard their
debut album, attitudes of a difficult
mind, agree that alaskahighway can not be
categorized in to any one genre as their
music goes from one extreme to another,
finding a balance in between, is often
unsettling, but totally intriguing.
with a personnel change in
early 2007 (see news), moose is forging
ahead with redefining the new sound for
the future...

grew up in the 'vince clarke school of
keyboard players'... basically using one
finger & a computer. having never been
taught to read or write music he must've
inherited some of his grandfather's
ability to play by ear...

timeline...
1993-1999 :
- moose
renames solo project from your virtual friend to alaskahighway.
- native transmission released on dat.
- a refocus of the alaskahighway sound to have a harder dancey
edge, verging on ebm / industrial.
- the first track written in this new style, dream
industry, is heard by tony @ negative gain and is
featured on the '99 compilation release 'negative
reinforcement'.
2001
:
- moose
moves to los angeles and starts work rebuilding the
studio, slowly making new contacts in the
area.
2002
:
- local
wildfire involves an evacuation from the studio
with neighbours helping each other. one such
neighbour is anthony from literally next door to
where the studio is located. the 2 get together a
short time afterwards and start writing.
2003
:
-
summer : alaskahighway, now a duo, head to san
fransisco to debut the new material, and headline
the whiskey in los angeles the following night.
- aborted gig in monrovia wasn't a total loss - met
up with rich ford who plays guitar.
- winter : attitudes of a difficult
mind is
finally released on negative gain to a lot of
online praise.
2004
:

aesthetic & breaking the broken both released on blcmusic's
interbreeding compilation cds. resulting feedback
is huge...
- anthony moves to new orleans for a year.
- moose starts up building 332 with rich whilst anthony creates
the point of
reflection.
2005
:
- work
continued on the second album.
- summer : building 332 release their first track on
blcmusic.
- fall : first alaskahighway live performance in a while
gets a great reception at bar sinister in
hollywood.
2006
:

winter : the return to the live los angeles
scene...
- summer : support slot for diary of
dreams at
LA's the key club surprises quite a few people and
wins a bunch of new fans.
the point of
reflection
splits up with several tracks now lined up for the
new album.
- fall/winter : more shows lined up.
2007
:

spring : moose teams up with rose from
among the
weeds.
- spring : anthony leaves the band <
